Determinate: Often referred to as bush or patio tomatoes. Though varieties don’t require staking, plants can benefit from tomato cages. Ideal for patios and smaller spaces. Fruit usually ripens during a fixed period of time. A concentrated harvest is practical when you want a lot of tomatoes at once.
Heirloom: At least 50 years old, these varieties are from saved seeds. They are open-pollinated, meaning pollinated by birds, bees, insects, and wind.
